Simplifying Complexity
Modern towboats are exceptionally sophisticated machines, packing advanced wake systems, ballast management, navigation, engine diagnostics, and media into a single vessel. Traditionally, managing these features required navigating a fragmented array of physical switches, gauges, and separate control panels.
The challenge was to consolidate this operational complexity into a single, cohesive ecosystem without sacrificing utility, ensuring the captain can access critical data instantly while keeping their eyes on the water, passengers, and riders.
Behavioral Mapping & Ecosystem Integration
To bring order to the helm, our process began with a deep analysis of real-world boating behaviors and human-machine interaction patterns in high-motion environments. We mapped out complex technical workflows—such as real-time wake customization, rider profile switching, and ballast adjustments—and redesigned them into simplified user journeys.
Working in lockstep with marine engineering teams, we ensured that every digital touchpoint seamlessly mapped to the boat’s underlying hardware, transforming disparate subsystems into a single, unified control platform.

Built explicitly for the demanding conditions of life on the water, the visual system features touch-friendly target zones, aggressive typography, and optimized contrast ratios engineered for perfect readability in direct sunlight and constant movement.

Built in the brand’s visual language of deep navy and high-signal orange, information lights up, connects, and clarifies, while grounded UI moments show CYDEcore™ as real control, not concept — making the invisible visible and the complex legible.
